X Racing Announces Dates for 2027 Snowmobile Mountain Madness
Inaugural Event a Huge Success, Sets Stage for Growth in 2027
ELK RIVER, Minnesota (June 10, 2026) — Officials at X Racing have announced the dates for their second annual Snowmobile Mountain Madness event at historic Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, New Hampshire. On April 9-11, 2027, teams will return for another action-packed weekend of racing.
Hillcross, Snowcross, Sunday Funday, Ditchbangerz and Kidz classes will all compete during the weekend, giving riders of all ages and ability levels a chance to have some big fun.
“With the success of our 2026 event, we are confirming next year's race dates at Gunstock,” X Racing president Joe Duncan said. “If you took part in our inaugural race, you'll receive an email in June with first rights for entry into the 2027 event. If you didn't, there will be a limited number of spots available.
“We also want to provide opportunities to riders who were unable to participate this year, so we are holding a still-to-be-determined number of entries. Yet a majority will go to those who did participate in our inaugural event. We appreciate those who made Snowmobile Mountain Madness a success.”
Several athletes were on hand who had made an impact on the sport of sled racing years ago. Approximately 4,000 spectators turned out over the weekend. From Saturday's Hillcross to Sunday's Snowcross and Sunday Funday action, the smiles were constant and fans were cheering the racers.
“We had an incredible 809 overall entries at Gunstock,” Duncan added. “That translates to 300 racers on site, with 275 separate races on the docket. We completed 230 of those, but due overwhelming participation and limited daylight hours, we were unable to complete every scheduled race.
“With any new event, there are bound to be a few challenges. At Gunstock, the only issue was the volume of racers on site. We were forced to change our original game plan. After listening to racers, sponsors and fans, we'll make a few changes for next year and refine the whole experience.”
Several former Eastern snowcross regulars turned out to knock the rust off at Gunstock. Combined with the first-timers, they kept fans entertained all weekend. A few of the veterans on hand include Tucker Kierstead, Derek Graham, Ryan Dupont, Spencer DeLabreure, Cecily Bernaiche, Bruce Gaspardi Sr. and Brian Whalley. It was clear these racers had all missed the racing and camaraderie among friends.
As for the 2027 event, there will be a mandatory Driver's Meeting for all racers. Twenty minutes will be devoted to race and safety information, 10 minutes will be dedicated to thanking sponsors, followed by 15 to 20 minutes of product giveaways. These giveaways average $2,000 to $3,000 at each event. Racers are not required to stay for product giveaways.
For young racers on 120cc and 200cc machines, there will be a 15-minute Driver's Meeting. Young riders age 13 and older will attend the adult meeting, while kids 12 and under will attend their own meeting to review safety procedures and general race information. All 120cc/200cc races will be run on their own track whenever possible. The goal is to run both days; riders may choose one day or both.
X Racing officials would like to thank the staff at Gunstock Mountain Resort for hosting our inaugural Snowmobile Mountain Madness event. We were promised ample snow for our tracks and great hospitality. We received that — and a whole lot more.
Officials would also like to thank presenting partner HK Powersports, of Laconia and Hooksett, N.H., for their support of our inaugural event. It takes quality partners like Brian Whalley and his staff to make our events better for our racers and fans. We look forward to expanding our relationship in 2027.
In fact, we're growing our partnership with HK Powersports this month, as X Racing will join them at the 103rd annual Laconia Motorcycle Week event in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. This year's historic rally is set for Saturday, June 13, through Sunday, June 21.
We ask those headed to this prestigious event to stop by and say Hello. We can't wait to share our excitement for 2027. Billed as the nation's oldest national motorcycle rally, its roots date back to the summer of 1916 when a Gypsy Tour made a trek up Route 3 through the scenic White Mountains.
On Wednesday, June 17, our friends at Gunstock invite you to join in the fun, as they host the AMA-sanctioned Hill Climb, a Deadbeat Customs bike show; Eastcoastin' Crew stunt shows; along with product vendors and food trucks. This event is a highlight for thousands of enthusiasts every year.
Throughout the summer, we'll announce more details for Gunstock and other events. We currently have contracts in the works with four ski areas; and are looking at three more sites. There is a possibility we could have seven race weekends in the East for 2027, as well as a full-season points championship.
Until then, we thank you all for the support, and wish you a safe and fun summer in the Great Outdoors.
